Audubon Texas and the Friends of Anahuac Wildlife Refuge want to invite you to participate in our monthly bird surveys at the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge!
Our first bird survey will be on Thursday January 29th2015 from 9am to noon. We will meet at the Visitor Information Station (VIS) on the refuge property. Notice this is not the Visitors Center/USFWS offices where the TERN training was held- we will meet at the refuge property.
The Audubon Texas TERN training for foraging habitats is an excellent complement to these bird surveys, however the training is not required for participation! If you are a new birder or an expert birder, please consider coming out to enjoy the views, document birds seen, and collect data for the refuge managers and Audubon Texas.
For those who plan to attend, come prepared with the following:
- Bottle of water
- Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
- Long pants (for walking through tall grass)
- Binoculars (I’ll bring some in case we need more)
- Their favorite bird book or reference material
Audubon Texas will provide extra binoculars and bird guides, datasheets and extra water and snacks for the group. The weather looks wonderful! We hope everyone is available to make it!
If you’d like to attend, please register by clicking here. Feel free to share with friends! The more the merrier! If you have any questions or need directions to the site, please email TERN@audubon.org
