FRIENDS OF ANAHUAC REFUGE |
Volunteer With Us
We are always looking for volunteers to help make our organization run. Take a look at volunteer opportunities and our Events page and pick out what you want to do! See contact information below. All members get email notifications of upcoming volunteer opportunities for the Friends and for the Refuge. You can also 'Like' our Facebook page for more updates.
Refuge Volunteer Workdays The Refuge hosts work days that are open to the public throughout the year. People from as far as Houston and Beaumont come out to help the complete projects on the Refuge. No experience is necessary. Experienced volunteers and refuge staff will be on hand to help train new volunteers. Most work days run from 9am-noon with FOAR providing lunch to all attendees. | Outreach Events Have you seen our booth at a local event? FOAR sponsors tables at annual events such as Anahuac Gatorfest and Winnie Rice Festival every year to help promote the refuge and educate the public about wildlife and conservation. Last year alone, FOAR talked to over 500 visitors at our tables in Anahuac and Winnie. Come be a part of the refuge by working in our booth! |
Nature Stores Do you like to meet and talk to new people? Do you want to be the face of the refuge? If you answered yes, then working in one of our Nature Stores is for you. FOAR operates two stores with the help of local volunteers. We need you to help keep the stores open and greet visitors to the area and to the refuge. All training will be provided! |
To volunteer for an event or project on the Refuge, contact Anahuac NWR Volunteer Coordinator, Stephanie Martinez, at stephanie_martinez@fws.gov or the Friends of Anahuac Refuge at friendsofanahuacrefuge@gmail.com. We look 'FOARward' to seeing you on the refuge!
